Do you need real help with money problems?
Money problems are real problems and affect everyone at some point. It’s time to get real help with your money!
Here’s the deal, though.
If you’re looking for someone to teach you how to save 90% of your income, retire in your thirties and do nothing until you die, you’re in the wrong place. I’m not your guy.
You see, you can find financial advice from just about everyone in your life and in most corners of the internet. One guru will tell you to leverage debt to build your empire today, while the next will tell you to avoid debt at all costs and pay cash in ten years.
The FIRE (Financial Independence Retire Early) community teaches people how to live on nothing so that later they can live on nothing…without working.
Then your crazy uncle will say ignore everyone and play the lottery.
There is a lot of personal finance noise out there. The problem is most of the financial suggestions are self-serving and temporary.
My hope for you is much bigger!
I’ll help you discover real help for money problems!
Here’s the thing, I don’t think you need more advice. You need one go-to source. That source is God’s Word, and I’m here to help you navigate it.
Money problems are stealing your joy and it’s time to hit refresh. Let’s solve real problems with real, timeless solutions.
I created Cheerful Money to help you better understand God’s way with money, create financial margin, and give more generously.
You can win financially! You can build wealth! And you CAN afford to give more time and money to God’s work!
The Best Help with Money Problems
Since I’m a pastor, what you’ll find here is a pastor’s biblical perspective on winning with money.
That means yes, we talk about the basics: Get on a budget, eliminate your debt, invest and plan for your future, take care of your family, and build a big nest egg.
I do all those things and so should you, but I do them with motive and purpose greater than my own comfort and peace. I’m striving everyday to create greater financial margin for my family SO THAT we can give more generously!
All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. Proverbs 16:2
Motives matter, and money is a tool God trusts us to use for good work. How we handle money is a window into our hearts.
I’ll help you take control of your money, create financial margin, and give more generously!
Here’s a free secret: Start giving today.
Whether you’re deep in debt or worth a million dollars, generosity is the secret to winning financially.

Like you, I’ve had my share of financial struggles and really needed help with money problems.
Ten years ago I was about $34,000 in debt in my mid-twenties living with my parents.
$20,000 of that was student loan debt from my bachelors degree, and $14,000 was my brand new car.
To be completely honest, my interaction with my debt was somewhere between odd and nonexistent.
For example, I was living with my parents, struggling with career direction, and making minimum payments toward my debt, but then I saved up $6,000 cash to buy a used motorcycle. With cash. Real cash.
You should always pay cash for toys (motorcycles, four-wheelers, boats, etc.). It’s smart and fun!
I actually handed the salesman a stack of one hundred dollar bills. He looked a little scared and said, “You sit here while I run this upstairs to the safe.” Haha!
Instead of paying off my student loans and new car loan, I used my saved up cash to buy a motorcycle. I loved that motorcycle. It was a 2006 Honda VTX 1300c with Cobra pipes! Her name was Lucy. True story.
Here I am after returning from an out-of-state weekend trip:
Lucy Saved My Life in the End
Lucy only lived with me for two summers before she was totaled.
I had a bad habit of riding at night and one night on my way home from a restaurant in Pittsburgh, Lucy and I met a deer head on.
Thank God I was wearing full gear and slid to a stop instead of into oncoming traffic. Both the deer and Lucy were not so fortunate.
Life and death situations have a tendency to wake us up and change the trajectory of our lives. That was the case for me.
I knew two things that night as I witnessed to the ambulance driver with more boldness than ever before in my life. One: I was blessed to be alive, and two: it’s time to grow up.
After my insurance company totaled Lucy I had plenty of cash to replace her. Instead though, I took that cash and paid it directly onto my student loans and began my journey to becoming debt free.
Within 1-1/2 years all my debt was cleared and I paid cash for an engagement ring.
For real! See that rock from our engagement photo?
I needed help with money problems, and a life refresh. Lucy gave me a wake up call.
More Available to Follow God
Thanks to Lucy, I was able to regain my life’s perspective and take back control.
When your money isn’t promised to someone else before earn it, your options in life open up WIDE!
When God called my wife and I into full-time ministry, we walked away from a high (to us) dual income and transitioned into a lower single-income situation. Our income was nearly cut in half. It was a little scary. Certainly a step of faith.
Thanks to living with zero debt we were able to take the risk. If we had more monthly bills than income it could never have been done.
God has blessed us over and over as we continue to follow his lead and give faithfully regardless of our situation.
I’m not saying we don’t still need help with money problems. Truth is, we still do. We always will, but we’ll also always return to God’s word for direction.
This is what I want for you!
Show God you’re serious about using his blessings for his glory.
